Crescent Dental was founded in September of 2011. Our first location was opened in Seguin, Texas to a warm reception to the community. Our San Marcos location then opened at the beginning of 2012. In July of 2016, we have finally grown and are now operating in Lockhart, Texas!
We have built these practices to create a family-friendly environment with no descrimination of age. We begin seeing patients from 6 months old and thrive on taking care of the whole family. Oral hygiene is a family practice and we understand that. Starting from an early age, with parent education, we work to prevent oral problems before they have a chance to arise.
Crescent Dental has also made a strong effort to ingrain ourselves in our local communities by promoting oral health awareness. We are constantly trying to find local events and health fairs to participate in where we can help everyone gain a little further understanding about the state of their mouths. We want to be more than just your dental office, but to be apart of your community!
Our doctors provide a gentle experience for patients of all ages. It does not matter if this is your first visit to the dentist or a seasoned veteran, we will do the best we can to provide an experience second to none.
Dr. Paul Shahwan is the founder of Crescent Dental. He was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Arlington, he attended Baylor Colege of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
In 2011, he and his wife moved down to New Braunfels bringing with them their three kids - a German Shepherd named Heidi, English Bulldog named Monkey and Great Dane named Wolf. In August 2013, they welcomed their first human child to add to the growing family and, again, added to the pack in 2016. Dr. Shahwan is always looking for ways to get involved in the community and has made a habit of helping Boys Scouts earn their merit badges in Dentistry!
During his downtime, Dr. Shahwan is always looking for a new project. Remodeling projects, building furniture, creating websites...there is always something to occupy his time. It's probably because he watches the DIY Network too much.
As a Texas native, Dr. Jennifer Chau grew up in Dallas. A true child of DFW, Jennifer keeps a close eye on her Texas sports teams. Rangers,
Cowboys, and yes, Mavericks, Dr. Chau is still trying to figure out how to cope with life, living in Spurs territory.
She graduated from University of Texas Arlington with a Masters in Healthcare Administration and then moved on to UT Health Science Center - San Antonio, earning her DDS degree. From The Walking Dead, Friends, Despicable Me to Fast and Furious, Dr. Chau keeps a wide taste in entertainment.
When she is not spending her time "drillin and fillin", Dr. Chau tries to stay active in the community. She's been on mission trips to Honduras and Vietnam, helped with Habitat for Humanity, The Ronald McDonald house and Haven for Hope. Traveling, spending precious moments with her pup, Jaxon, Dr. Chau keeps her life balanced and peaceful.
Dr. Afshan Miri joined the Crescent team in 2015. Born and raised in Austin, he attended UT where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Human Biology and it is safe to say that he bleeds burnt orange. After he received his DDS degree from Univeristy of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, he came back home to begin his career. There is no intent to ever leave Austin.
With a very large Hispanic family on his mother’s side in Austin, holidays are always an eventful time. Although he rarely gets to visit his Persian side of the family in Iran, he is always looking for the opportunity to see them.
Dr. Miri leads a very active lifestyle. While he can no longer play Lacrosse, because you cannot do dentistry with broken fingers, Dr. Miri enjoys playing soccer in his downtime. An avid sports fan, the Texas teams keep his attention – Longhorns, Cowboys, Spurs and Rangers! If he is not involved with sports or eating any fried foods he can find, Dr. Miri is probably playing Xbox or spending time with his family!
Dr. Yazmin Miranda received her undergraduate Biology degree from Bayamon Central University and went on to receive her D.M.D degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She also completed a two-year AEGD Residency with NYU Lutheran Medical Center before moving to Texas in the summer of 2016. Dr. Miranda always had an interest in smiles and entered the world of dentistry as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant 13 years ago. She made it her goal to finish her career as a general dentist and she’s excited to get started with Crescent Dental!
Dr. Miranda is very excited to see what Texas has to offer and is really enjoying her time in Central Texas. When Dr. Miranda isn’t working, you might find her watching Netflix, traveling, going to the movies or spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Lindsey Jaros was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio as the oldest of three girls. She primarily became a dentist to make people happy by boosting their confidence through their smile and is excited to do so at Crescent Dental & Orthodontics!
After receiving her Bachelors in Zoology from Miami University in Oxford Ohio, she received her dental degree from University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. She then practiced in Ohio for a period before making the trip down south.
When it comes to food, coffee and deserts are always at the top of Lindsey’s list but tacos and barbeque are in a close second. Although Lockhart is different from anywhere she has lived before, she could have not picked a better place to be!
While it’s nice to enjoy the fine things in life, Dr. Jaros has made it a point to spend her time seeing the world. She recently spent a month exploring Europe, finding Switzerland and Austria to be some her favorite places to visit.
When she is not a work, you might find Dr. Jaros spending time outdoors, going for a bike rides, hiking or going for runs with her miniature Australian Shepherd, Colby.
